Premier League Highlights – Sunday 2 February 2020

Two Premier League matches took place on Sunday, with the undoubted highlight being the clash of Tottenham and Manchester City (Mourinho v Guardiola) in London.

Highlights from both matches, from Sky Sports, the official UK highlights provider, are shared below, along with some context, and the league table from the end of the day.

Tottenham v Man City (2-0)

How is your luck, Manchester City? A bag full of chances, then a second yellow card, down to ten men, and Tottenham’s new signing scores with their first shot on target on 63 minutes. Son added a second, and City looked good without managing to score.

The undoubted turning point was Hugo Lloris saving a penalty. The Spurs Goalkeeper was outstanding all match, and capped a fine display with fine handling and good reflexes in the final ten minutes, while City poured forwards.

Burnley v Arsenal (0-0)

These two sides are struggling. Both clubs with top-half ambitions, finished this match level on points at the top of the bottom half. Such is the weird and wonderful world of Premier League 2019/20 that both European qualification and relegation are not out of the question this season for each side. They’ll need to create and finish better; a statement which applies to each side equally.
